Summer Camps

Information about the 2017 Summer camp offerings:

All camps are held at the Waldorf School of Louisville (8005 New LaGrange Rd, 40222) Monday-Friday from 8:30-3:00. The cost is $245 per child per camp (unless otherwise noted*)

Please be aware that a spot is not guaranteed until the balance is paid in full. Payments can be paid by cash, check (made payable to the “Waldorf School of Louisville”), via credit card (with a 3% processing fee) or charged to your TADS account (current WSL families only). The balance for the camp must be paid in full prior to the first day of your selected camp.

 

Plants and Play ● Marybeth Legler ● June 5-9 / 19-23 / 26-30, July 17-21 / 24-28 ● Potty trained 4 to 12 years
Children will enjoy the many benefits of time in the great outdoors. They will enjoy lots of time for imaginative play, working in the garden, healthy snacks, story and rest.

Twiglore Camp ● Dan Chaffin and Amy Edgington ● June 5-9 ● 10 to 14 years ● $25 supply fee (*)
Woodlore (or woodcraft) is the practice of living and thriving in the woods. Twiglore is Woodlore – kid style! Children will learn camp set up, cooking, green wood carving, primitive fire lightening and more with free time to play and just be outside.

Work and Play Camp ● Evy Royce ● June 12-16 / 19-23 ● 4 to 12 years
We will weave our work and play with songs, verses, games, play and stories; our quest will be adventures. Daily rhythm will include inside and outside play, healthy snack, circles, games, tidying, story and rest.

Puppetry Camp ● Angie Davis ● June 12-16 ● 6 to 11 years ● $50 supply fee (*)
Children will be immersed in story and making puppets in different forms: shadow puppets, table puppets and large papier mâché puppets will be explored, culminating in a performance at weeks’ end. Stories will be multi-cultural and will inspire imaginative landscapes and characters, giving children a fun creative and social experience.

Theatre Camp ● Rob Lanier & Mike Eger ● June 12-24 ● 7 to 14 years ● $490 total, two week camp
A two-week experience in acting, movement and stage craft culminating in an outdoor performance on Saturday June 24th. This year our play is a western melodrama titled “The Legend of Dusty Britches”. It is the story of the Pony Express rider who completed his journey on foot then mysteriously disappeared.

Handwork Camp ● Angie Davis ● June 19-23 ● 6 to 13 years ● $50 supply fee (*)
Fiber arts are explored in depth as we experience the colors and warmth of summer through tie-dying, embroidery and felt making projects.

Sports, Games and Movement Camp ● Cassie Cordero ● June 19-23 ● 10 to 14 years
This camp will involve all things movement and fun. We will warm up, play team sports, movement games and water and field day activities.

Horse Art Camp ● Angie Davis ● June 26-30 ● 6 to 13 years
The majesty of the horse will be explored through drawing, sculpture, mythology and song. Projects will explore the form, roles and shape of the horse on a large and small scale culminating in a formal art show to display the children’s art work.

Movement and Games Camp ● Cassie Cordero ● June 26-30 ● 6 to 9 years
This camp will involve all things movement and fun. We will warm up, play movement games and enjoy water and field day activities.

Celebrate Summer Camp ● Connie and Mike Eger ● July 10-14 ● 4 to 7 years
Inviting friends to share in the summer through outdoor projects and play that integrates movement, nourishment, nature and fun.

Magic the Gathering ● Dan and Eli Chaffin ● July 10-14 ● 11 to 14 years ● $30 supply fee (*)
The most popular card trading game in the world, Magic provides an engaging platform for scalable gameplay in an incredibly fun way to improve math skills, creative thinking, strategy, statistical analysis, sportsmanship, resource management, memory, economics…the list goes on. Starting with the basic rules and mechanics we will progress through various aspects of strategy and deck building finally culminating in a limited draft tournament.

Inner Power Super Sense Camp ● Leo Provan & Barbara Ullrich ● July 10-14 ● 9 to 12 years ●$25 supply fee (*)
We have designed this program to support, nurture and develop the gifts of energetically sensitive, creative and intuitive children. We will explore activities such as yoga, art, crystal bowls, using crystals, drumming, meditation, animal totems, energy fields, intuitive games, mandalas, crafting our own essential oil blends, fairies and fairy houses, nature tiaras and crowns, preparing healthy snacks, journaling, the power of positive thinking and more!

Printmaking Camp ● Casey Bayne ● July 17-21 ● 12 to 14 years
We will focus on the start-to-finish process of making linoleum cut relief prints. We will explore the printmaking process through movement and games, observational drawing, basic composition construction and mirror imaging. Each student will leave with an edition of prints from their original linoleum print.
