Summer Camps​

All camps are held at the Waldorf School of Louisville 
(8005 New LaGrange Rd, 40222)
Monday-Friday from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm
The cost is $245 per child per week/camp (additional supply fees are noted*)
Snacks will be provided, children will bring their own lunch each day

June 1st – 5th Camps

Forest Fun Camp ● Cory Pohlman & Michelle Haxby ● 4 years old to rising 3rd grade

Please join us for our Forest Fun Camp. Each day the children will enjoy morning walks in our very own magic forest where they will have plenty of time and space to explore, run, climb, gather, create, laugh and play. Summer songs, stories and games will be woven throughout the day. Afternoons will be spent enjoying the simple joys of outside fun through gardening, water play, bubbles, nature inspired crafts and caring for our play yards and each other. A light, nourishing snack will be provided. Children should bring bedding for rest time after lunch (sheet, blanket and a pillow), a sun hat, sunscreen, bug spray and a change of clothes. We look forward to sharing these beautiful sun shiny days with your children.

Basic Sculpting Camp ● Jordan Witherspoon ● Rising 2nd grade through Rising 9th grade ● $8 supply fee paid directly to Jordan Witherspoon

In this camp, students will explore how to create basic sculptural forms in clay.; starting from a circle and ending with more asymmetrical shapes. Students will learn to steady their hands, breathe and center their thinking in this course and learn to create mindful and beautiful shapes. Tools and studio space will be provided and the supply fee will cover the clay needed. Students should wear comfortable clothing and come prepared to get messy! Some aprons will be provided but is messy clothing is a concern, students should bring aprons to use in the camp.

 

June 8th-12th Camps

Full STEAM Ahead Camp ● Jordan Witherspoon ● Rising 3rd grade through Rising 9th grade ● $5 supply fee paid directly to Jordan Witherspoon

This summer camp offers students interested in Science, Technology, Art, Math and Engineering (STEAM) a chance to explore them further with hands-on activities. Students will learn how to create drawing wiggle bots and toothbrush bugs, how to construct buildings using teamwork and unconventional materials like straws shaving cream and rubber bands. The supply fee will cover the cost of materials like paper, markers and robot kits. The students will be able to take home some of their creations like toothbrush bugs.

 

June 15th-19th Camps

Work and Play Camp ● Evy Royce ● 4 years old to Rising 3rd grade

The summer is a time for play and an opportunity for different activities. We will prepare healthy snacks, tend to our garden, polish our gardening tools, tidy our room and tie-dye. We will weave our work and play with songs, verses, games, play and stories. All children will need to bring a sheet, blanket, pillow, sun hat, bug repellent and a change of clothes; on Fridays a towel and swimsuit for “get wet day” as we play with water and the sprinkler.

Art, Dance & Music Camp ● Cari Norris ●Rising 2nd grade through Rising 5th grade ● $15 supply fee paid directly to Cari Norris

Kiddos in Ms. Cari’s camp will enjoy and celebrate the arts by learning and singing songs, largely from the Appalachian tradition, accompanied by a variety of instruments including: mountain dulcimer, guitar and banjo. Students will also learn to play songs on the mountain dulcimer during the week. No previous experience is required and dulcimers will be provided. Campers will also engage in a wide variety of visual arts including painting, drawing, collage and weaving. Additionally, we will kick up our heels with contra, square and circle dances all accompanied by a live bajo or dulcimer. Plenty of free play will be incorporated so far as to create an in-breath, out-breath rhythm of activities throughout the week. Healthy snacks will be provided daily. The goal of this week is “fun through the arts”!

Sculpting the Human Form Camp ● Jordan Witherspoon ● Rising 6th grade through Rising 9th grade ● $8 supply fee paid directly to Jordan Witherspoon

This is a great camp for budding artists and those looking to explore clay. Tools and studio space will be provided and the supply fee will cover the clay needed. Students should wear comfortable clothing and come prepared to get messy! Some aprons will be provided but is messy clothing is a concern, students should bring aprons to use in the camp. At the end of camp, students will select one project to fire at Kentucky mud works which will be available for pick-up after June 27th.

 

June 22nd-26th Camps

Wonderful Waldorf EC Camp ● 3 years old to Rising 1st grade
Welcoming our younger friends to share the summer through a daily rhythm that includes play, healthy snacks, projects, storytelling, tidying and rest time.

Wonderful Waldorf Grades Camp ● Rising 2nd to Rising 9th ● $20 supply fee
Inviting our grades friends to enjoy the many benefits of time spent in nature. We will prepare a delicious and nutritious snack daily to fuel creativity and activities to enrich the experience all in a laid back and fun atmosphere.
